The WELl - Daily Devotion 11/14

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:8-11

Sometimes I can get busy and overlook the people around me that God has brought into my life for a reason. Especially in the holiday season it becomes easy to stay focused on my plans, mt family and my stuff. The thing is that God created us to be hospitable and He actually  instructs us to show hospitality without grumbling….(He just had to add that last part )

Just kidding. But look at what these verses say about hospitality. We are to serve others in love and continually apply love to them because it covers a multitude of sins. I used to think this meant that I should show love to others even when they get on y nerves or treat me badly-and it does-BUT it also means that when I show love it covers up a multitude of things in my own life also. My house doesn’t have to be perfect and spotless (sometimes people feel more comfortable when it’s not perfect) I just need to be willing to server others in love so that Christ is glorified. That’s a pretty cool result!!

How is God calling you to be hospitable for his glory?

What has been holding you back from serving others in love?
